After making a string of social commentaries, Canadian director Deepa Mehta satirizes India's beloved genre in the lighthearted romantic musical Bollywood/Hollywood. Indo-Canadian millionaire Rahul (Rahul Khanna) goes against the wishes of his mother and grandmother to date the Caucasian pop star Kimberly (Jessica Paré); however, she gets killed in an accident and he is left devastated. His mother (Moushumi Chatterjee) seizes the opportunity and announces that he must get engaged to an Indian girl before his sister is allowed to wed. This is complicated by the fact that his sister is already engaged and pregnant. Under pressure, Rahul enlists the help of Sue (supermodel Lisa Ray), a professional escort who agrees to play the part of his Indian fiancě. He thinks she is really Hispanic, and she claims to have no love for traditional Indian men. Throughout his sister's wedding preparations, Sue begins to befriend his entire family, including the tough old grandmother (Dina Pathak). After some random bursts into songs and dances, Sue reveals her true identity and they fall in love.

A fun, witty well-written and Lisa Ray is beautiful what more could you ask for?

What waste of time. A simpleton, derivative plot layered by dull dialog and forgettable music made me want to take two pencils, poke out my eyes and then stick them into my ear drums. I wanted to try Bollywood type movies, this was not an auspicious start.

A man hires a beautiful and independent escort to pose as his Indian bride-to-be to satisfy his mother and grandmother.

It's a tad silly and very predictable, but not bad as entertainment. Still you would have to be a bit knowledgeable about Bollywood to get some of the jokes and routines. But then if you are not, you are unlikely to be watching this film.

Cute story, nothing very original. Deepa's other movies are much better.

Can't believe that Deepa Mehta, the director of the mesmerizing and Oscar winner film "Water", wrote and directed this silly film.
In addition, the main idea of the film seems to be very similar to that of "Pretty Woman".
"Bollywood Hollywoond" is a disappointment and a waste of time.

Nice movie that was filmed in Toronto. I've been to most of the places in the movie and was excited to see them on screen.
