This is the first novel I have read by Mary Stewart, but it most certainly will not be my last. Full of suspense and beautifully described scenery, I found The Ivy Tree to be exactly what I was looking for in a romantic suspense novel. It was recommended to me because of my interest in Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier; and, while it contains the same feeling of tragic love and dark suspense, Stewart's style is less gothic and more "wrapped up". A thoroughly enjoying read and hard to put down.
