This exciting story of Emily is another one of Montgomery’s fine works. It tells the tale of Emily Starr, whose father dies of illness and she is handed to her mother’s family of proud Murrays. Here she struggles with Aunt Elizabeth’s strict ways and the interesting characters of New Moon and beyond. She is loved by everyone despite her small scrapes in the world, especially by her Aunt Laura and Cousin Jimmy. This tale also highlights Emily’s love of writing her memoirs and stories through her “Jimmy books” as well as letters to her late father and mother that make the story flow nicely. I love how this story starts with Emily being extremely close to her father and when she arrives at New Moon she becomes a proud Murray herself and grows attached to her maternal family as well. I personally enjoyed this series as equally as I did Anne’s! Rating 5/5 - @jewelreader of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
